The Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has restated the government's commitment to forging a modern and resilient economy driven by digitalisation.
In his New Year Message to Ghanaians, he assured that efforts would persist in creating opportunities for citizens to enhance their livelihoods.
"Beloved Ghanaians, I must reaffirm our government’s commitment to making life better for all our citizens”, he said, promising: “We shall continue our efforts to build a modern and resilient economy, catalysed by digitalisation”.
Also, Dr Bawumia said: “We shall continue to make young people future-ready. We shall continue to create greater opportunities for every man, woman, and child to fulfil their dreams and aspirations. It is possible."
Encouraging Ghanaians to maintain a spirit of patriotism, he urged them to hold onto hope as the government worked to implement measures to alleviate their hardships.
Dr Bawumia expressed confidence in showcasing the country's democratic prowess after the December 7, 2024, elections.
"I am excited and extremely confident about 2024. To be successful together, we must all dig deep and renew our spirit of patriotism. We must begin this New Year with hope and optimism of what we think we become. Let us be proud of our heritage and work together to lift our dear country to new heights in this election year," he stated.
Highlighting the significance of national development for stability and peace, Dr Bawumia emphasised, "As we watch and listen to news from our continent, Africa, and around the world, we must never forget that national development and our individual well-being are only possible where there is national stability, social cohesion, and peace. Welcome to 2024, the year of possibilities."
