Voter exhibition exercise starts today

The Electoral Commission (EC) is set to begin its nationwide voter exhibition exercise today, August 20, which will continue until August 27.
Dr. Bossman Asare, the Deputy Chairman of the EC in charge of Corporate Services, announced that the exercise is intended to assist voters in locating their designated polling stations.
During a press conference on Monday, August 19, Dr. Asare explained that registered voters can use this period to request the inclusion of omitted names, challenge the inclusion of ineligible voters, and request the removal of deceased individuals from the register.
He emphasised the importance of public participation in the exercise to help the Commission create an accurate and credible voter register for the 2024 general elections.
“The Commission urges the general public, especially registered voters, to engage with the voter exhibition exercise to assist in updating and producing a credible voter register for the 2024 general elections,” Dr. Asare stated.
He also noted that the exercise provides an opportunity for citizens to challenge the inclusion of minors and foreigners in the register, as well as those who do not reside in the electoral areas where they registered.
Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has assured the public of adequate police presence to ensure their security at the various voter exhibition centers.
