The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has expressed concern over the lack of infrastructure development in the Upper West Region, 41 years after its creation.

Mr. Mahama, speaking during a meeting with the Upper West Regional House of Chiefs at the conclusion of his campaign tour, highlighted the region's deplorable road network as a critical issue affecting economic progress and daily life.

During his tour, the NDC presidential candidate noted the poor state of roads across almost all traditional areas, which, according to him, had even hindered his own campaign activities.

He emphasised that addressing the region’s infrastructure, particularly its road systems, would be a priority in his next administration.

The NDC presidential candidate underscored that improving the road network was essential to unlocking the region’s full agricultural potential and boosting economic growth and promised to tackle it as a matter of urgency and priority in his next administration.

In addition to road improvements, the former president assured the chiefs of his commitment to extending electricity and providing clean drinking water to communities in the region.

He also reaffirmed his promise to complete the Agenda 111 projects, a nationwide initiative aimed at constructing hospitals and improving healthcare infrastructure across the country.
