UW/R: Bawumia commissions ultra-modern IRECOP in Kperiha
Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on Monday, 20 May 2024, commissioned an ultra-modern Integrated Recycling and Composting Plant (IRECOP) and Medical Waste Treatment facility in Kperiha, near Wa, in the Upper West Region.

The Centralized Medical Waste Treatment Facility will also serve the purpose of collecting and treating hazardous components of healthcare waste, such as used syringes, blood stained materials, pathological waste, Covid-19 waste and waste from vaccination exercises.
The newly commissioned IRECOP, is the 7th to be commissioned, out of 16 to be built in all 16 regions, and the medical waste treatment facility, is the 4th commissioned, out of 14 to be built, through a collaboration between the government and Jospong Group of Companies.
Dr Bawumia speaking at the commissioning said apart from creating over 1000 direct jobs, these ultra-modern facilities will also ensure healthy environment; improved health conditions of inhabitants; improved living condition of the populace and reduction in air, water and land pollution.
