President Mahama nominates Dr. Rashid Pelpuo as Minister-designate for Labour, Jobs and Employment

In a strategic move to strengthen his administration, President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Dr. Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo as the Minister of Labour, Jobs and Employment.
This nomination is part of the President’s third batch of ministerial appointments submitted to Parliament for approval on January 21, 2025.
Dr. Pelpuo, the Member of Parliament for Wa Central Constituency, brings a wealth of experience to the role. His political career includes serving as Minister of State at the Office of the President in Charge of Private Sector Development and Public-Private Partnerships during President Mahama’s previous tenure.
He also held the position of Minister for Youth and Sports from 2009 to 2010.
Beyond his ministerial roles, Dr. Pelpuo has been an active participant in parliamentary affairs.
He has served as the Chairman of the Population and Development Caucus and as the Ranking Member of the Lands Committee. His extensive experience in governance and policy implementation is expected to contribute significantly to addressing employment challenges and enhancing labour relations in the country.
The nomination of Dr. Pelpuo underscores President Mahama’s commitment to assembling a team of seasoned professionals to drive the nation’s development agenda.
Parliamentary vetting and approval processes for the nominees are anticipated to commence in the coming weeks.
