President Mahama appoints Dr. Omane Boamah as Defence Minister-designate

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, the Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as the Minister of Defence-designate.

Dr. Boamah, a medical doctor by profession, is among a new batch of ministerial nominees submitted to Parliament for approval. He joins other appointees, including Samuel Nartey George, MP, who has been nominated as Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations.

A statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State-designate for Government Communications, listed additional nominees as follows:

Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources – Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, MP Ministry of Sports and Recreation – Kofi Iddie Adams, MP Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment – Abdul-Rashid H. Pelpuo, MP Ministry of Health – Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, MP Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology – Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, MP Ministry of Transport – Joseph Bukari Nikpe, MP Ministry of Interior – Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, MP Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources – Adjel Kenneth Gilbert Minister of State in Charge of Special Initiatives – Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, MP Minister of State, Government Communications – Felix Kwakye Ofosu, MP Minister of State, Climate Change and Sustainability – Issifu Seidu, MP

These nominees will undergo parliamentary vetting and approval before assuming their respective roles.
