PNC to swear in newly-elected national officers today
The People’s National Convention (PNC) is set to swear in its newly elected national officers today, marking a new chapter in the party's leadership.
The announcement was made by the National Chairman-elect, Mr. Samson Asaki Awingobit, during an interview on the Ghana Yensom morning show on Accra 100.5 FM on Monday, September 9, 2024, hosted by Kayire Otafrigya Kwesi Appea -Apreku.
Mr. Awingobit confirmed that all national officers-elect will be sworn in according to the party's constitution at a ceremony to be held at the PNC headquarters in Accra.
Once sworn in, the new officers will immediately assume their roles in steering the affairs of the party.
He highlighted that the new leadership is eager to address the needs of the country’s unemployed youth, emphasizing their commitment to making a positive impact.
Following the swearing-in ceremony, the party's Functional Executive Committee (FEC) will convene to discuss urgent matters related to Bernard Mornah, the newly elected flagbearer of the party.
Mr. Awingobit noted that after the FEC meeting, a National Council Meeting will be called on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 with all regional chairpersons present to outline the procedures for endorsing the flagbearer's nomination forms.
During the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, the flagbearer will introduce his running mate and all necessary background checks will be conducted before the choice is officially announced to the public.
Mr. Awingobit also called on party members who were unsuccessful in the recent elections to respect the outcome and support the newly elected leaders.
He noted that this election marks the first time the PNC has elected officers with a strong sense of youthful energy and enthusiasm.
He concluded that the new leadership is expected to bring fresh perspectives and renewed vigour to the PNC as it prepares for the upcoming elections.
