Next NDC gov’t will probe $3m Africa Games expenditure - Woyome
Chairman of the Sports Committee of Parliament, Kobla Mensah Wisdom Woyome, has vowed to ensure thorough accountability regarding the government's expenditure on the 13th Africa Games.
This comes in the wake of recent controversy surrounding the payment of over $3 million to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) for the coverage of the Accra 2023 games.
Mr. Woyome also revealed that an additional $15 million was spent on feeding athletes during the 18-day event.
Expressing his concern, Mr. Woyome announced that his committee will summon the sector minister, Mustapha Ussif, to provide a detailed account of the expenses to both the committee and the Ghanaian public.
Furthermore, he pledged that a future government led by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will thoroughly investigate the expenditure related to the Africa Games, ensuring that every dollar spent is accounted for.
