On Christmas Day, numerous party delegates and supporters set aside the festive celebrations to rally behind Jerry Ahmed Shaib, the Chief Executive Officer of the Coastal Development Agency (CODA).

They joined him in filing his nomination to contest the Weija Constituency seat in the Greater Accra Region, representing the governing New Patriotic Party.

The election is scheduled for January 27, 2024.

The enthusiastic supporters thronged the streets, starting from Weija junction on the Mallam-Kasoa Highway and extending all the way to the party's office opposite Regent University College.

Mr  Jerry Ahmed Shaib, accompanied by notable figures such as former Member of Parliament for Okaikwei North, Issah Fuseini, defeated parliamentary candidate for Odododiodio Constituency, Nii Lante Bannerman, the Queen mother of Weija Traditional Stool, the chief of Alajo (who also serves as the bodyguard of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo), and his Campaign Manager, Mr. Benjamin Adams.

The lively event, marked by pulsating music, brought traffic to a standstill on the Kasoa to Accra stretch of the road.

In a formal ceremony, Jerry Ahmed Shaib submitted his nomination forms to the Weija Constituency Elections Committee.

The Constituency Chairman, Chairman Danquah, and the Committee's secretary, who also serves as the Constituency Secretary, Ofori Akoto were present for the occasion.

During this process, Mr Shaib pledged to conduct a clean campaign, emphasising the NPP's commitment to voting for, not against, and advised his supporters to refrain from actions that could jeopardise the party's unity in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

Assuring the party leadership of his dedication to a principled campaign, he cautioned his supporters against insulting others and encouraged them to focus on promoting the party's commitment to prioritizing the welfare of its members.

Mr Jerry Ahmed Shaib went on to pledge a transformation of the party's image, promising to move beyond operating in a shop.

Under his leadership, he assured that efforts would be made to construct a party office equipped with an event center for various social activities
