NPP mourns John Kumah, directs party flags to fly at half-mast

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is grieving over the death of Deputy Minister of Finance, Mr. John Kumah, who passed away today, 7th March 2024, and has directed all party flags to fly at half-mast for the next seven days.
In a press release, the party described the Ejisu MP as a person “who demonstrated profound passion and commitment to the needs of his constituents which resulted in his recent acclamation as the Party’s 2024 Parliamentary candidate for the constituency.”
The NPP said it draws strength from his impactful legacy of dedication and tireless efforts for our beloved country.
The party also extended its deepest condolences to the grieving family, particularly his wife, children, and the people of Ejisu, who have suffered a significant loss.
Mr Kumah, was a distinguished lawyer and entrepreneur with over 15 years of experience in leadership, innovation, and job creation, particularly in supporting youth development.
Notably, he served as the inaugural Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), where he played a pivotal role in fostering entrepreneurship in Ghana. Under his guidance, NEIP trained 7,000 startups in 2018 through the Presidential Business Support Programme and provided financial assistance to 1,350 beneficiaries.
Before his government service, John Kumah was a founding member and Managing Partner of Aduaprokye Chambers, a reputable law firm. Additionally, he established Majak Associates Ltd, a construction company.
His academic achievements were extensive. He obtained a Doctorate in Business Innovation from the Swiss Business School in Switzerland in November 2020, following a Master's in Applied Business Research from the same institution in 2019. He also held a Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Business Research from Nobel International Business School (NIBS) and an Executive Master's degree in Business Administration (Finance) from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
His educational journey began at the University of Ghana, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with Philosophy and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law (LLB) in 2011. He further pursued legal studies at the Ghana School of Law, receiving his Professional Law Certificate in 2013 and subsequently being admitted to the Ghana Bar.
Beyond his professional pursuits, John Kumah was deeply committed to his family. He was married to Apostle Lilian Kumah and was a loving father to six children.
