NPA boss pledges support for NPP's candidate in Asunafo South
Dr. Mustapha Abdul Hamid, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), visited Asunafo South over the weekend as part of a campaign to support the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) efforts to win the constituency in the upcoming elections.
During his visit, Dr. Hamid met with chiefs from the Zongo communities, imams, and local youth to rally support for the NPP's parliamentary candidate,Mr. Frank Aduse Poku.
For nearly two decades, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), represented by Mr Eric Opoku, has controlled Asunafo South.
The constituency is a key target for the NPP, and Dr. Hamid emphasized his commitment to helping the party reclaim the seat.
At a mini rally dubbed "Youth Connect," Dr. Hamid assured the young people that the NPP would focus on addressing their concerns and fostering development in the area.
He highlighted Mr Frank Aduse Poku's energy and dynamism, stating that, with the party's full backing, the candidate would deliver meaningful change to the constituency.
"We cannot afford to allow two decades of stagnation to continue," Dr. Hamid declared.
"I will personally adopt this constituency and support Mr Aduse Poku in every way to wrestle the seat from the NDC and bring the progress this constituency deserves."
The rally, however, was disrupted by violence when individuals wearing NDC t-shirts clashed with young NPP supporters.
The altercation escalated, resulting in an NDC branch chairman allegedly shooting a young NPP member, who is now receiving medical treatment.
Despite the incident, the NPP has reaffirmed its commitment to reclaiming the seat from the NDC.
