NDC remembers Atta Mills 11 years on

Today, Monday, July 24, 2023 marks 11 years of the passing of Ghana’s former President John Evans Atta Mills.
To commemorate this anniversary, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which the late Ghanaian president was a member and on whose ticket he was elected president, gathered for a solemn memorial service to honor his memory.
The service took place at Asomdwee Park in Accra and was attended by party members, political dignitaries, and citizens alike, all coming together to pay their respects to the esteemed figure in Ghanaian politics.
President Mills held the highest office in the country from 2009 to 2012.
The memorial service commenced with heartfelt speeches from prominent NDC leaders, who shared touching anecdotes and memories of their time working alongside President Mills. They lauded his humility, unyielding commitment to the nation's progress, and his genuine passion for improving the lives of ordinary Ghanaians.
The current NDC leadership underscored the importance of upholding President Mills’ legacy and principles, vowing to continue the fight for social justice, economic development, and good governance.
During his speech at the memorial service, Fifi Kwetey, the General Secretary of the party, called upon all party members to emulate the exemplary lifestyle of the late President, who tragically passed away in office on July 24, 2012.
Former President John Dramani Mahama delivered a poignant eulogy, describing the late President Mills as a dignified leader whose absence can never be replaced, highlighting the significant impact he had on Ghanaian politics and society as a whole.
The memorial service provided an opportunity for all attendees to reflect on President Mills' remarkable contributions to Ghana and served as a reminder of the principles and values that the NDC said it will continue to champion in his honor.
