Mr Eric Adjei, Deputy Spokesperson for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Vice Presidential Candidate, has raised concerns over the surge in fake news as the December election nears.

Mr Adjei’s warning comes after a fake social media account was created in his name, reportedly spreading propaganda intended to harm the Muslim community.

In a post on Facebook, Mr Adjei voiced his frustration over the spread of misinformation, asking, "Why do our colleagues on the other side enjoy spreading fake news?"

He condemned the false account, emphasizing his strong ties with the Muslim community.

"I have family members and friends who are Muslims," he said, urging the public to ignore what he termed "cheap propaganda."

Mr Adjei attributed this rise in fake news to individuals affiliated with the presidency, suggesting that taxpayer-funded operatives are behind the misinformation campaign.

He warned, "In these last days, they’ll be pushing false information to mislead some Ghanaians."
