The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Amenfi Central, Madam Joan Gyan Cudjoe, has openly criticized the sitting NDC Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Kwakye Ackaah, who recently announced his intent to seek re-election as an independent candidate after losing the party’s primary.

In an interview on Accra 100.5 FM’s "Ghana Yensom" morning show, co-hosted by Kayire Kwesi Appea-Apreku and Odyeeba Kofi Essuman, Madam Joana Gyan Cudjoe accused the MP of placing personal ambitions above the interests of the party and the people of Amenfi Central.

She described Kwakye Ackaah as “dishonorable” and argued he did not deserve the title of "Honourable."

Ms Cudjoe claimed that Mr Ackaah has been a source of discord within the party, alleging that he has used “legal gymnastics” to obstruct her victory, despite her winning the party’s primary on two occasions.

She further noted that this is not the first time the MP has acted against party interests, recalling that Mr Ackaah previously left the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to run as an independent candidate before joining the NDC.

"The MP is leading the charge for his own parochial interest," she said.

“He has repeatedly shown a tendency to create confusion wherever he goes.”

Despite his alleged tactics, Ms Cudjoe stated that "the will of God has prevailed," adding that she was grateful for the support she received, even from those who once doubted her victory.

She took the opportunity to thank NDC’s General Secretary, Fifi Kwetey, the National Chairman, and other executives at the national and regional levels for their support.

She also expressed gratitude to the party's legal teams, both past and present, who backed her throughout the process.

Ms Cudjoe concluded with optimism, asserting her commitment to uniting the constituency and working towards a successful outcome for the NDC in Amenfi Central.
