John Mahama pledges to complete unfinished projects in Asanteman

The Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has assured the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, of his commitment to completing all unfinished projects initiated during his previous administration in Asanteman if elected President.
Speaking during a courtesy call on the Asantehene as part of his campaign tour of the Ashanti Region, Mr. Mahama emphasized that the resources used for these projects come from Ghanaian taxpayers, making it a collective responsibility to ensure their completion.
“Projects funded by the hard-earned taxes of Ghanaians must not be left to waste.
It is crucial for all of us to come on board to complete these projects for the benefit of the people,” Mr. Mahama stated.
Mr. Mahama criticized what he described as excessive borrowing by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), which he said has led to financial constraints and limited access to international funding.
As a result, he pledged that his next administration would prioritize completing existing and abandoned projects, including those initiated by the NPP, rather than embarking on new ones.
“When elected, my government will not start new projects but will focus on finishing what has already been started.
This includes projects left incomplete by the NPP,” he assured.
The former President also took aim at the NPP, accusing the ruling party of resorting to false narratives and propaganda against him.
He dismissed claims that he plans to cancel the Free Senior High School policy, describing such allegations as baseless and politically motivated.
“The NPP has no campaign message and has resorted to spreading false news, including lies about me cancelling the Free SHS programme.
These fabrications, often from the Jubilee House itself, are meant to mislead Ghanaians,” he said.
In response, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II expressed his blessings for Mr. Mahama as he continued his campaign in the region.
The Asantehene also gave his permission for the NDC flagbearer to proceed with his tour of the Ashanti Region ahead of Saturday’s general elections.
