President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening economic ties with the Czech Republic in pursuit of sustainable development and mutual prosperity.

Speaking at the Czech-Ghana Business Cooperation Seminar held at the Mövenpick Hotel on Wednesday, April 8, President Mahama underscored the importance of deepening bilateral relations as a pathway to long-term progress.

Quoting an African proverb, he emphasized the power of partnership:

“As the African proverb aptly reminds us: ‘If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.’ We want to go far, and we will do so with our Czech colleagues,” he stated.

President Mahama described the seminar itself as a testament to the kind of collaboration Ghana seeks with its international partners.

“It is in this spirit of collaboration that we gather here today—to forge partnerships that will benefit generations to come,” he added.

He further highlighted the complementary strengths of both nations: the Czech Republic’s industrial and technological expertise and Ghana’s strategic location and vibrant young population.

“Together, we stand to gain immensely by enhancing our economic ties and cooperation,” he said.

Also addressing the seminar, President of the Czech Republic, H.E. Petr Pavel, emphasized the role of political leadership in fostering economic opportunity.

“We politicians have it easier—we open the door if we have goodwill and create the conditions.

The rest is up to you.

I believe both President Mahama and I have the goodwill to open that door wide,” he remarked.

President Pavel is currently in Ghana on a three-day state visit from Tuesday, April 8 to Thursday, April 10, 2025. His visit reflects the strengthening diplomatic and economic relationship between Ghana and the Czech Republic.
