Four Independent MPs align with Majority Caucus in Parliament
The Majority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has revealed that all four independent Members of Parliament have declared their intention to align and conduct business with the Majority Caucus in Ghana’s Parliament.
Dr. Forson noted that while all four MPs have expressed their stance, only Kwame Asare Obeng, the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, has officially communicated his decision to the Majority Caucus.
The remaining three MPs—Ohene Kwame Frimpong, MP for Asante Akim North, Nandaya Yaw Stanley, MP for Wulensi, and Worlasi Kpeli, MP for Afram Plains North have been directed to submit formal letters to both the Majority Caucus and the Speaker of Parliament for official validation.
“Currently, we have received letters from all four of them. So, Mr. Speaker, we’ll wait for them to officially write to you,” Dr. Forson stated during a parliamentary session on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
He further clarified, “Mr. Speaker, my attention has been drawn to the fact that so far, the MP for Gomoa Central has written to us, but the rest are yet to write officially to confirm their positions.”
