Election 2024: NDC’s prepped, won't encourage anything but a transparent election – Isaac Adongo
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has its eyes peeled for the December 7 general elections, Bolgatanga Central MP Isaac Adongo has said.
He outlined some of the preparations the main opposition party has made to ensure the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) does not rig the democratic exercise in their quest to break the eight-year or two-term political cycle.
Adongo spoke to Kwame Dwomoh-Agyemang on the Class Morning Show on Class 91.3 FM, Monday, September 2, 2024.
He commended the former Communications Minister “the honourable Dr Omane Boamah and his team” for “doing quite a lot of work and you can already see the fruit”.
“When we were doing the registration, they collected enough data on the register so they have data on every polling station and every constituency; who registered, how many registered [etc]. So if you transfer votes – even the transfers they have data on how many people transferred in and out on a daily basis, which hitherto wasn’t the case,” he noted. “So, I do believe that some [more] work will happen again to try and force the EC to correct these anomalies.”
“We’re not going to encourage anything other than a transparent election, and we want to achieve that. I believe that the team that has been put together but the party, led by Dr Omame Boamah, will do a very good job,” the NDC lawmaker concluded.
On Saturday, December 7, the major contesting parties are the former President John Mahama-led NDC and the Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia-led NPP.
