E/R: Napo applauds Akwatia constituency for unity ahead of Dec. polls

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Vice Presidential Candidate, has commended the leadership of the party in the Akwatia Constituency for uniting ahead of the 2024 elections.
Addressing key stakeholders, including chiefs, the Muslim community, and party supporters at Akyem Wenchi and Topremang, Dr. Prempeh acknowledged that internal divisions had cost the party during the last elections but expressed optimism about reclaiming the Akwatia Parliamentary seat.
During his week-long campaign tour of the Eastern Region, Dr. Prempeh, popularly known as Napo, visited the Akwatia constituency—formerly an NPP stronghold that was lost to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2020 elections.
He noted with satisfaction that the previously divided factions within the party were now united, working together to reclaim the seat from the NDC in the upcoming polls.
Napo stressed the importance of unity, noting that the divisions in Akwatia had severely impacted the party’s performance in the last elections.
He urged the constituency's leadership and supporters to work diligently to ensure that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s Presidential Candidate, and Parliamentary Candidate Ernest Kumi receive widespread support.
He encouraged active campaigning in markets, offices, and communities to rally behind the NPP's mission.
Highlighting the party’s focus on youth empowerment, Dr. Prempeh praised Dr. Bawumia’s innovative solutions for addressing Ghana’s challenges and urged voters to support the NPP for continued development. He also criticized the opposition, particularly former President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), for questioning Dr. Bawumia’s suitability for the presidency.
Napo called for unity in embracing diversity, underscoring that Ghana’s strength lies in its collective identity.
Ernest Kumi, the NPP’s Parliamentary Candidate for Akwatia, assured supporters of his commitment to ongoing development initiatives.
He acknowledged the negative impact of past divisions but emphasized that the party is now united and determined to recapture the seat from the NDC.
Former Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Mercy Adu Gyamfi (Ama Sey), also pledged her unwavering support for the NPP’s victory in December.
She dismissed allegations against her from within the Constituency as distractions and reiterated her dedication to ensuring the party’s success.
National Women’s Organizer of the NPP, Kate Gyamfua, echoed calls for unity, urging all members of the party in Akwatia to remain focused and work together to secure victory in the 2024 elections.
