Dec polls: Napo is a splendid choice for Bawumia-Baafi
The Deputy Minister for Trade in Charge of Industry, Mr. Michael Okyere Baafi, has praised the selection of Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh as the running mate for Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia in the upcoming December 7 general elections.
He described Dr. Prempeh, the outgoing Minister of Energy, as an excellent choice.
"As Members of Parliament, we have long known that Dr. Bawumia would choose none other than Dr. Prempeh," Mr. Baafi said, emphasizing that Dr. Prempeh is both the party’s and the MPs’ choice.
He noted that selecting Dr. Prempeh, particularly from the Ashanti Region, the party's stronghold as a strategic move.
Mr. Baafi, who is also the sitting Member of Parliament for New Juaben South Constituency in the Eastern Region, lauded the party’s flagbearer’s decision.
He highlighted that Dr. Prempeh, also known as Napo, has the potential to secure more votes in the Ashanti Region.
Speaking on Class 91.3 FM’s morning show with host Kwame Dwumoh Agyemang on Friday, July 5, 2024, he stated that Napo is a candidate who can win votes in the party’s stronghold.
Mr. Baafi addressed rumours about Dr. Prempeh’s alleged arrogance, firmly denying them.
"Napo is never arrogant.
He is the most accessible Minister in the history of the 1992 Constitutional dispensation," he asserted, adding that Dr. Prempeh is known for his inclusive approach, regardless of party affiliations.
