Dec polls: Majority of SDA voters favour Bawumia – Mussa Dankwah
Mr Mussa Dankwah, Executive Director at Global InfoAnalytics, has disclosed that a significant portion of Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) voters intend to support Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the governing New Patriotic Party’s quest to break-the-eight in the upcoming elections.
According to the latest survey, 42% of SDA men plan to vote for Dr. Bawumia (DMB), while 35% favour former President John Dramani Mahama (JDM).
Among SDA women, 36% are inclined to vote for DMB, compared to 31% for JDM.
Mr Dankwa further revealed that SDA voters make up 3.4% of the electorate, with Jehovah's Witnesses accounting for 0.7%.
Mr Dankwah made this revelation in a Facebook post today Monday, July 29, 2024.
He noted that these statistics underscore the growing support for Dr. Bawumia within the SDA community, suggesting a potential shift in voter dynamics as the elections approach
Meanwhile, the Seventh-Day Adventist Church has formally requested the Minister of Justice and Attorney General to explore the possibility of rescheduling this year's elections to a different day.
This appeal, which has been forwarded to the Electoral Commission as well, according to the church emphasises the need for an amendment to the non-entrenched Article 112(4).
The urgency from the church stems from the fact that the scheduled election date of December 7 coincides with the Sabbath.
Specifically, the church advocates a modification to the current date, proposing a shift to either the first or second Tuesday of November.
The motivation behind this request, as stated by the church, is to contribute to the deepening of electoral democracy and to ensure the active participation of all citizens in the electoral process.
Their objective is to prevent the exclusion of any individual based on religious observances and to foster an inclusive electoral environment
