#2024Polls: John Dumelo 'confidently' declares victory in Ayawaso West Wuogon

John Dumelo has announced to his followers on social media that he has won the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
On X, Sunday, December 8, 2024, the actor, farmer and politician proclaimed even with 13 polling stations results pending, he was sure he had taken the parliamentary seat.
He jubilated he had ended a 24-year reign of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the constituency.
"...with 13 polling stations to go, I can confidently say we have won the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat for the first time in 24 years," Dumelo wrote, adding "#idey4u."
A tally sheet added to the X post showed 38,471 votes for NDC's Dumelo while his opponent, Lydia Alhassan, of the NPP, apparently scored 25,775 votes.
The Electoral Commission (EC) is yet to declare official figures after Ghana went to the polls on Saturday.
Meanwhile, this is the second time Dumelo is contesting for the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat.
