Dec. 7 polls: Don’t waste your precious votes by supporting NDC – Napo tells people of A/R

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has issued a stern warning to the electorate in the Ashanti Region, cautioning them against casting their ballots for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming elections.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Tweapeasi, within the Odotobiri Constituency, Dr. Prempeh, popularly known as 'Napo,' emphasised that the NDC is not committed to the development of the Ashanti Region.

He urged voters to consider any vote for the NDC as a waste, arguing that the party has consistently neglected the region's progress.

"We vote in elections for development. If you support a party that doesn't prioritize your progress, you've wasted your vote," Dr. Prempeh stated.

He further argued that only the NPP has the region’s development at heart, urging voters to support his party in the December elections.

According to Dr. Prempeh, the NDC has consistently won a significant share of votes in the Ashanti Region but has shown disregard for its development when in power.

"The NDC receives huge votes from the Ashanti Region during elections, yet they discriminate against the region whenever they win political power," he claimed.

Napo expressed surprise at the NDC’s alleged neglect of the region, citing what he described as deliberate policies aimed at stalling its development.

He pointed to the introduction of a capitation system for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) during the NDC’s administration, which, he said, was implemented only in the Ashanti Region and negatively impacted healthcare services.

He also accused former President John Mahama of openly criticising the people of Ashanti Region, quoting Mr. Mahama as saying, “Even if you construct their roads with gold, they will never appreciate.”

Dr. Prempeh urged the people of the Ashanti Region to reject the NDC at the polls, stating, "The NDC has nothing in their plans for the Ashanti Region. Don’t waste your precious votes by supporting them."

He reiterated that the region's development has consistently stalled under NDC leadership, and he believes this neglect is intentional.

Napo called on the people of the Ashanti Region to choose the NPP, stressing that only his party has a genuine commitment to the region's progress.
