Dec 7 polls: Bono traditional leaders endorse Alan Kyerematen
Traditional leaders in the Bono Region have thrown their weight behind Alan Kyerematen, the presidential candidate for the Movement for Change and Alliance for Revolutionary Change, praising his experience, vision, and commitment to transforming Ghana.
During Kyerematen’s 'Caravan Campaign Tour' in the region from October 6-7, 2024, chiefs from various traditional areas expressed confidence in his ability to rescue the nation from its current economic challenges.
Barima Mintah Afari, Chief of Chiraa, highlighted Kyerematen’s integrity and long-standing service to the nation, commending his decision to part ways with the NPP and contest as an independent candidate.
"Alan has a proven track record from the days of President Kufuor to President Akufo-Addo. He is visionary, hardworking, and above all, not corrupt as we hear about some politicians.
His departure from the NPP was not by accident; it was a result of God’s plan to lift him up," Barima Afari declared.
Echoing similar sentiments, Osagyefo Ampem Anye Amoanpong Tabrako III, Paramount Chief of Wenchi, praised Kyerematen’s industrialization agenda, which he believes will turn the country’s fortunes around. "Alan’s industrial drive is the key to reviving Ghana’s economy.
His leadership in launching the Africa Continental Free Trade Area and the One District, One Factory (1D1F) initiative proves he is the leader we need now," he stated.
The chief also appealed for a cashew processing plant in Wenchi to boost local economic activities.
The Queen mother of Chiraa, Nana Yeboa Pene II, emphasized the divine mandate behind Kyerematen’s leadership.
"If it is God’s will for Alan to lead Ghana, we all support it.
Leaders are chosen by God, and when God selects someone, no one can question it," she said, calling for peace during the upcoming elections and urging Ghanaians to vote based on policies, not violence.
Meanwhile, Nana Akosua Duaa Asor Sika Brayie II, the Paramount Queenmother of Sunyani, shared her personal endorsement of Kyerematen, recalling her long-standing acquaintance with him.
"I have known Alan for many years, and based on his commitment and competence as a minister under both President Kufuor and President Akufo-Addo, I have no doubt he is the one to save Ghana from the current economic crisis," she affirmed. She further prayed for smaller parties to form alliances with him to ensure his victory.
Sumamanhene, Odeneho Dr. Afram Obrempong III, noted that Kyerematen’s policies are reshaping the political landscape in Ghana.
"Alan’s honest and respectful nature, combined with his corruption-free record, sets him apart from other politicians.
His industrial vision, agricultural mechanization plans, and strong anti-corruption stance are touching the hearts of many Ghanaians," he remarked.
Nsawkwa Kyidomhene, Nana Anokorang Sarpong, added that Kyerematen’s focus on agriculture and industrialization is the solution to the nation’s long-standing problems.
"Any leader who wants to build Ghana through agriculture and industrialization must be held in high esteem. Alan is the God-sent leader who will end excessive importation and corruption while boosting local production," he asserted.
Nana Ohene-Ntow, Senior Advisor and Director of Election Planning and Coordination for the Movement for Change, acknowledged the overwhelming support from the chiefs.
"This election is a three-horse race between Alan, Bawumia, and Mahama, but Alan stands tall among them," he said, expressing gratitude to the traditional leaders and promising to relay their words of encouragement to Kyerematen.
