A violent disruption occurred during the Ashanti Regional Council of State election as a group of well-built men stormed the venue and destroyed ballot papers and boxes during the sorting process.
The incident, which took place amidst the crucial selection process, threw the election into disarray, sparking tension among officials, candidates, and observers present.
Eyewitnesses reported that the unidentified individuals forcefully entered the voting centre, overturning tables and scattering ballots before security personnel intervened.
Election officials have yet to determine the full extent of the damage or whether the election results will be affected.
Authorities have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible for the disruption.
The Ashanti Regional Electoral Commission is expected to issue an official statement on the matter, including whether a re-run will be necessary. Meanwhile, security has been heightened at the venue to prevent further disturbances.
