Bernard Mornah elected PNC flagbearer, calls for unity ahead of December polls

Bernard Mornah has emerged victorious in the People’s National Convention (PNC) flagbearer race.
His win, announced by Electoral Commission (EC) officials at the UDS Guest House in Accra on Saturday, 7 September 2024, marks a significant turning point for the PNC as it strives to strengthen its political influence.
Mr. Mornah secured a commanding 1,138 votes, overshadowing his opponent, David Apasera, who garnered 216 votes.
The outcome of the congress, which was convened to elect the party's national executives, reflects strong support for Mr. Mornah's leadership and vision.
In his victory speech, Mr. Mornah extended an olive branch to Mr. Apasera, urging him and his supporters to join forces in the lead-up to the national elections.
“The time for unity is now,” Mr. Mornah noted, emphasising the party's collective effort to build momentum and gain political ground.
Despite initial delays caused by an injunction filed by Mr. Apasera's camp, the party managed to resolve the issue, enabling the congress to proceed without further interruptions.
