Bawumia promises National Pilgrimage Authority if elected President
Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has pledged to establish a Pilgrimage Authority to support Christians and Muslims in undertaking spiritual journeys to Israel and Mecca, respectively.
Dr. Bawumia announced this initiative during a visit to the Believers Worship Centre (Philadelphia Movement) at Pokuase Katapor Estate in Accra on Sunday.
He explained that the proposed authority would make pilgrimages more accessible, enabling Christians and Muslims to pray for Ghana’s peace and seek divine blessings and guidance for the nation.
At the church, Prophet Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah, founder of the Believers Worship Centre, prayed for Dr. Bawumia as he campaigns to lead Ghana in the December 7 elections.
In a symbolic gesture, the prophet draped a special white apron over Dr. Bawumia’s head during the prayer session, signifying divine protection and support.
The NPP flagbearer is currently touring all 276 constituencies across Ghana, engaging with voters and sharing his vision for the country.
His campaign highlights the achievements of the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration over the past seven and a half years and outlines his plans for Ghana's future.
Dr. Bawumia has been emphasizing transformative policies such as the Free Senior High School programme, which has benefited 5.7 million students, and the digitization of the economy.
He also cited significant improvements in road infrastructure, the construction of interchanges, the establishment of 169 factories under the One-District, One-Factory initiative, and the provision of over 300 ambulances for district hospitals.
Additionally, he mentioned ongoing projects like Agenda 111, which aims to enhance healthcare delivery through the construction of new hospitals, and various investments in education and social interventions.
Dr. Bawumia’s proposed Pilgrimage Authority underscores his commitment to fostering religious harmony and national unity. As he seeks the mandate of Ghanaians in the upcoming elections, the NPP flagbearer continues to advocate for policies aimed at promoting economic development, social cohesion, and spiritual well-being.
