Bawumia files nomination to contest Dec. 7 polls
Flagbearer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has filed his nomination to contest for the presidency.
Dr. Bawumia filed his nomination on Monday, 9 September 2024, at the Electoral Commission’s (EC) headquarters in Accra.
Addressing supporters after filing his nomination, Dr. Bawumia, urged Ghanaians to ensure peaceful elections as the country prepares for the upcoming polls.
He expressed optimism about the NPP’s chances, stating that the party would “emerge victorious” in the elections.
Accompanied by his wife, Samira Bawumia, his running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, and his wife, Alma Pokua Adade-Prempeh, the party's National Chairman, Stephen Ntim, General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, and other senior NPP officials, Dr. Bawumia emphasised the importance of maintaining calm and unity throughout the electoral process.
