Afotey Agbo nominated as GAR representative in Council of State election
The Regional Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anthony Nukpenu, has announced the nomination of His Royal Highness Tatse Nii Laryea Akwetey XI for the upcoming Greater Accra Regional Council of State elections.
In a statement issued on January 26, 2025, Nukpenu endorsed Nii Laryea Akwetey XI, known in private life as Joseph Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, highlighting his extensive political and leadership experience.
Afotey Agbo previously served as the Member of Parliament for Kpone Katamanso for 16 years and held ministerial positions at the presidency, overseeing the Volta and Greater Accra Regions.
His nomination is seen as a strategic move to bring experienced leadership to the Council of State.
According to the statement, his nomination forms will be officially filed on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, to commence the electoral process.
Nukpenu called on party members and the general public to support Nii Laryea Akwetey XI’s bid for the Council of State position.
