#2024Polls: NDC commends Ghanaian youth for standing up to military intimidation, protecting their desired vote for change
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Greater Accra Regional Chair, Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, has noted the "sudden" and "unauthorised operation" of what looked like military men during the 2024 polls when "a few days ago, the Ghana Armed Forces issued a communique that they were not going to be part of this process".
He bemoaned what happened in Ledzokuku, for instance.
"But the youth of Ledzokuku stood up against this unauthorised process. Same as Ablekuma North - I'm just coming from there. Same at Tema Central. But [in all] the Ghanaian people called for this change and I think they are standing to protect the change. That is why you see we're facing them..."
He underlined the NDC's commitment to the "rules set by the authorities" in charge of the electoral process, while being alert to appropriately respond to anything "on the contrary," also.
He buttressed by citing the NDC had, among other things, been been accused of not protecting their votes in 2020.
"That's what we're [now] doing," he emphasised.
He challenged the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) assertion that they were winning parliamentary seats in the Greater Accra Region.
"I can't see their men and women here. Everywhere I go - all the 12 collation centres I've done [so far] I see our people all over the place. Some places that you go [to] you have a sitting MP who doesn't even show up at all at the collation centre. Talk of Ayawaso West Wuogon, Ablekuma West...
He encouraged NDC supporters not to move away from any collation centre "unless the last ballot box leaves the collation centre".
He congratulated former President Mahama, NDC's flagbearer, for winning Dome-Kwabenya.
He saluted NDC parliamentary candidate (PC) Mrs Elikplim Akurugu, also, on her victory in the constituency, per NDC's provisional figures.
