#2024Polls: A-Plus secures Gomoa Central, unseating NPP incumbent
Ghanaian musician and social commentator, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, has achieved a historic victory in the Gomoa Central constituency, clinching the parliamentary seat as an independent candidate.
A-Plus defeated the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament, Naana Eyiah, in a highly competitive contest in the Central Region.
A former supporter of the NPP, A-Plus transitioned into an independent political force, rallying significant support to secure this decisive win.
His victory marks a dramatic shift in the political landscape of Gomoa Central and underscores the growing influence of independent candidates in Ghana's parliamentary elections.
Meanwhile, Ohene Kwame Frimpong, another independent candidate, has won the Asante Akim North Constituency seat in the Ashanti Region, unseating the NPP’s Andy Appiah-Kubi.
