The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has claimed crucial victories in the Tema Central and Ahafo Ano North constituencies after a court-ordered re-collation of election results on 21 December 2024, conducted at the Greater Accra Regional office of the Electoral Commission (EC).

Ahafo Ano North Results

In Ahafo Ano North, the NPP’s Agyeman Prempeh emerged victorious with 20,353 votes, narrowly edging out the NDC’s Kwasi Adusei, who polled 20,232. Similar allegations of irregularities during the initial collation prompted the re-collation exercise.

Tema Central Re-Collation

In Tema Central, the re-collation overturned an earlier declaration in favour of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Ebi Bright. The NPP’s Charles Forson was declared the winner, securing 18,870 votes to narrowly defeat Bright, who obtained 18,815 votes.

The exercise was carried out under heightened security, with representatives from both parties present to monitor the process. The re-collation followed legal challenges by the NPP, which raised concerns over alleged discrepancies in the original results.

High Court Directive

These results are part of a broader judicial review process mandated by a High Court ruling on 20 December 2024. The court directed the EC to re-collate and announce results in several disputed constituencies, including Tema Central and Ahafo Ano North.

The NPP had petitioned the court, citing irregularities in the original results and calling for a review to ensure transparency and fairness. The re-collation exercises were conducted with stringent oversight to uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
