The Electoral Commission (EC) has suspended the re-collation of results for the Dome Kwabenya and Ablekuma North parliamentary constituencies, citing missing pink sheets and unresolved disputes over essential election documents.

These two constituencies are part of nine identified for a review of results after a High Court order mandated re-collation due to allegations of irregularities. While the EC has successfully declared results in seven constituencies, all in favour of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the process in Dome Kwabenya and Ablekuma North has hit significant roadblocks.

In Ablekuma North, the re-collation process stalled after the returning officer failed to produce 62 of the required pink sheets. The absence of these critical documents has made it impossible to complete the re-collation exercise, creating further uncertainty.

The situation in Dome Kwabenya is even more complex. The returning officer disclosed that pink sheets for three polling stations are available only in digital form. Attempts to produce hard copies have so far been unsuccessful.

The NPP attributes these challenges to violent disruptions during the initial collation process. Party representatives allege that their agents were assaulted, and vital documents were seized and destroyed amidst the chaos.

Re-collation exercises have been conducted under strict security, with joint police and military teams deployed to ensure order and transparency.

Despite the setbacks, the EC has assured stakeholders of its dedication to resolving the issues. Speaking to the media, Benjamin Bano Bio, Director of Electoral Services at the EC, said:

“The Commission remains dedicated to upholding the integrity of the electoral process. Investigations are ongoing to address the missing documents and disputes in the Dome Kwabenya and Ablekuma North constituencies.”

The EC has urged political parties and stakeholders to remain patient while it works to resolve the challenges and ensure a fair and transparent outcome.
