Amumanyo Foundation launches blood donation drive in North Tongu district to address critical shortage
Following their recent support for flood victims, the Amumanyo Foundation, a Ghanaian non-governmental organization, has launched a blood donation drive in Juapong, North Tongu District of the Volta Region.
This initiative aims to alleviate the pressing blood shortage at the Battor Catholic Hospital.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the foundation, Mr. Christian Kofi Amuse Anani, highlighted the importance of public participation, noting that response so far has been low.
“Blood donation is crucial to saving lives. It’s safe and harmless, and we urge everyone to take it seriously,” he emphasized.
Mr. Precious Mawunyo, a Medical Laboratory Scientist at the Battor Catholic Hospital, assured potential donors that they would undergo thorough health checks before donating, emphasizing that the process is simple and essential.
“Every hospital needs blood, particularly for pregnant women, accident victims, and patients requiring emergency surgeries,” Mr. Mawunyo stated, underscoring the vital role of donations in saving lives.
He expressed concern over preventable deaths caused by blood shortages, stressing that the community’s participation would make a significant difference.
He urged Ghanaians to support blood donation initiatives, particularly those organized by the Amumanyo Foundation.
Miss Faustina Attah, a member of the foundation, made an urgent appeal for support from philanthropists, individuals, and the public.
“To continue our mission, we need assistance in various forms, including financial support, food and beverages, medical supplies, and volunteers,” she said.
As an NGO, the Amumanyo Foundation depends on public generosity to provide emergency aid, support healthcare initiatives, and empower communities across Ghana.
