V/R: Local economic development takes centre stage at Aflavenu market durbar
On August 23, 2024, the Aflavenu Market in the Central Tongu District marked its second anniversary with a grand celebration, shining the spotlight on local economic development.
The District Chief Executive (DCE), for the South Tongu District, Mr. Thomas Moore Zonyrah, emphasized the importance of collective efforts to foster a thriving business environment, promote entrepreneurship, and enhance the district's overall well-being.
He announced plans for infrastructural development as well as the extension of potable water to the enclaves, improvement of sanitation issues at the market by November this year, and the introduction of road machines to improve roads for rural areas, including Aflavenu and Adidokpawu.
A temporary police post was inaugurated to enhance security, and the site was selected for market shed construction projects.
Work is set to commence on the CHPS compound, a self-help project supported by the Central Tongu District Assembly (CTDA).
Mr Godwin Ayikpa Casola, Parliamentary Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the area highlighted his focus on rural telephone communication and IT issues if elected as a Member of Parliament in the 2024 general elections.
The event united stakeholders, community leaders, and market women, underscoring the collaborative approach to driving local economic growth and development.
