In a significant move to enhance healthcare in the North Dayi District of the Volta Region, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has donated critical laboratory equipment to the Wusuta Health Centre.

The donation, which includes microscopes, centrifuges, and comprehensive testing kits, is set to improve the facility’s diagnostic capabilities, benefiting residents of Wusuta and nearby communities.

The Wusuta Health Centre, a vital healthcare provider in the district, has long faced challenges due to outdated equipment and limited resources, forcing residents to travel to Kpando or other nearby towns for essential medical tests.

The newly donated equipment will enable the health centre to offer a broader range of medical services, improving access to timely diagnoses and treatment.

Speaking to Class News, the President of the Ghana Accra North-Ho District of the Church, emphasised the importance of the donation.

“The residents must be healthy to worship God, and that is what the church stands for, providing both spiritual and physical needs of the people. This initiative is not just about providing equipment; it is about enhancing the quality of life for the people in this community through improved health services,” he said.

Mr David Tekpor-Owusu, the District Health Director, expressed his gratitude to the church, noting the new equipment would alleviate the financial burden on residents who previously had to seek diagnostic services outside the district.

“This will go a long way in helping us provide better healthcare and save costs for our community members,” he said.

Togbe Osietutu Brempong III, the paramount chief of the Wusuta Traditional Area, expressed his appreciation for the church’s support and urged the community to maintain the equipment.

“We are thankful for this timely support. It is a step in the right direction, and I believe this will reduce the stress of traveling outside the district for healthcare,” he said.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for North Dayi, Mr Edmund Cudjo Attah, also commended the church’s contribution, adding their continuous support for communities across Ghana had made a lasting impact.

The DCE donated an air-conditioner and additional items to help the laboratory function effectively.
