The Office of the Presidency has revealed the whereabouts of the Secretary to President Nana Akufo-Addo, Nana Bediatuo Asante.

An October 2 statement from the presidency, issued by the Director of Communications, Eugene Arhin, said Mr Bediatuo Asante was "admitted to hospital" in the United States following an undisclosed illness. 

The statement, also, assured the diplomat was "currently in stable condition and responding well to treatment".

Concerns were raised especially on social media, Tuesday, October 1, regarding Nana Bediatuo Asante's whereabouts and wellbeing when he did not return to Ghana after accompanying President Nana Akufo-Addo for the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

Wednesday night, the Office of the Presidency released a statement to clear the air, explaining Nana Bediatuo Asante had "stayed behind to conduct further government business" but "began to feel unwell".

Apart from his earlier stated role, Mr Bediatuo Asante serves, also, as an Ambassador-at-Large.

Statement on the health of Nana Bediatuo Asante, Secretary to the President

The Office of the President wishes to inform the public about the health status of Nana Bediatuo Asante, Secretary to the President. 

Following the conclusion of the meeting of the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, in the United States of America, where he served as a key member of President Akufo-Addo's delegation, Nana Bediatuo Asante stayed behind to conduct further government business.

He then began to feel unwell, and was subsequently admitted to hospital.

He is currently in stable condition and responding well to treatment.

According to the medical team, Nana Bediatuo Asante's recovery is on track, and we remain hopeful for his swift return to full strength.
