Police: CEO of Ghana’s 5G supplier, NextGen InfraCo, found after being declared missing
The Ghana Police Service has announced the Chief Executive of NextGen InfraCo, Tony Mintah, has been found.
"Details will be provided in due course," police added in their latest statement.
Earlier, today, October 23, 2024, police had reported Mintah had been "taken away by unidentified individuals from the premises of the National Communications Authority (NCA) in Accra".
A Ghanaian firm, NextGen InfraCo is the company with the licensing contract to execute Ghana's upgrade to the 5G spectrum.
Meanwhile, according to the Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, said on Peace FM, Wednesday, October 2, that all is set for Ghana to experience 5G service from November 1, 2024.
5G is the fifth-generation technology standard for cellular networks in telecommunications. Cellular phone companies began deploying 5G, worldwide, in 2019. Coming after 4G technology, 5G offers higher internet speed, higher upload and download speed, with more consistent connections and improved capacity.
