Otumfuo receives Honorary Doctorate from UCC

The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has bestowed an honorary Doctor of Laws (LL.D, honoris causa) upon Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in recognition of his significant contributions to national harmony, unity, and development.
This accolade was conferred during a special congregation at the university, marking a historic first public visit by the Asantehene to Cape Coast and coinciding with the 60th anniversary of the Fetu Afahye festival celebrated by the people of Cape Coast.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s visit to Cape Coast was his first official public appearance since ascending the Asantehene throne.
At the special congregation, UCC honoured Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his role as a promoter of peace and stability, a visionary leader, and an advocate for cultural preservation and the rule of law.
Chancellor Dr. Sir Sam Esson Jonah praised the Asantehene as a beacon of hope and a key player in advancing development and peace both in Ghana and internationally.
Receiving the honorary doctorate, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II expressed his gratitude to the University of Cape Coast and the city of Cape Coast for their role in Ghana’s educational landscape.
He reaffirmed his commitment to advancing education, development, and unity in Ghana, while calling for a holistic approach to addressing the country’s educational challenges.
