Oppong Nkrumah requests report on public reaction to Cecilia Dapaah saga

The Cecilia Dapaah saga has captured significant public attention, given the serious nature of the allegations and the implications they may have on public trust in governance

Following reports that a substantial sum of money - one million dollars, 300,000 euros, and millions of cedis - was found stored in the bedroom of former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, the Minister for Information Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has directed District Information Officers to produce a situational report on the public's reaction to the matter.

In a memorandum from the information analyst at the Minister's office to the Head of PRCD, specific areas of focus for the report were outlined. These include the public's reaction to the revelation of suspected unexplained wealth, as well as their response to Cecilia Dapaah's subsequent resignation. 

Additionally, the report will encompass the public's reaction to the President's statement in response to her resignation.

The urgency of the matter is evident as the District Information Officers are expected to complete the assigned tasks by the end of the day, today, Wednesday, 26 July 2023.

Meanwhile, the The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has said it is still investigating suspected corruption and corruption related offences involving Ms Dapaah, in respect of large cash sums stolen from her house.

In an update on the progress of the investigations, the OSP noted it has taken a number of steps including placing the former Minister “under arrest and conducting searches at two residential properties associated with her".

“The public will be briefed on the outcome of the investigation when it is concluded, including any further steps the office may take,” the OSP stressed. 

The OSP commenced investigations into the matter on Thursday, 20 July 2023.
