GWCL: Our life is in danger, no water to drink, help us restore – Ho residents

The Ho Municipality is facing a severe water crisis, leaving residents and businesses struggling to access the essential commodity.
The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) shut down its Kpeve Headworks for emergency repairs on January 1, 2025, resulting in a prolonged water shortage in the area.
Residents have been forced to rely on alternative sources, including wells and private tanker services, which come at a significant cost.
Food vendors, who rely heavily on water for their daily operations, are among the hardest hit.
“We are struggling to get water for cooking and cleaning, and it’s affecting our business and customers. For the past one week, I depend on sachet water for my business and it’s costing me a lot,” Madam Makafui, a waakye seller at Police Depo, lamented.
Meanwhile, checks by Ho 92.5 FM reveal the water challenge is negatively affecting health facilities, which rely water reservoirs that may soon be depleted.
Despite assurances from GWCL that its emergency response team was working to repair the fault and restore water supply as soon as possible, residents are appealing to the authorities to come to their aid.
