EC to hold mop-up voter registration from Aug. 1-3 – Jean Mensa
The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced an upcoming mop-up voter registration exercise.
The exercise is set for Thursday, 1 August to Saturday, 3 August 2024.
This exercise aims to include individuals who turned 18 after the limited voter registration period and those who missed the initial registration opportunity in the voter register.
The Chairperson of the EC, Jean Mensa, made the announcement during a debriefing session with the Election Security Taskforce.
Led by Inspector-General of Police Dr. George Akuffu Dampare, the taskforce visited the EC to discuss election security performance for the first half of the year.
“I would like to put on record that the mop-up of the voter registration exercise will take place from August 1–3, 2024, and it is to afford persons who turned 18 after May 29 or persons who have not previously registered the opportunity to get onto our register; this goes to persons who are eligible,” stated the EC Chairperson.
In addition to the registration exercise, the EC will conduct a voter exhibition from Tuesday, 20 August to Tuesday, 27 August 2024.
This initiative aims to ensure the voter register is accurate and up-to-date ahead of the forthcoming elections.
