EC destroys defective ballot papers for Ahafo and Volta Regions amid serialization errors
The Electoral Commission (EC) has destroyed defective ballot papers that were initially printed for the Ahafo and Volta Regions after discovering serialization errors.
The disposal process took place on Thursday, November 21, under the strict supervision of police officers and representatives from various political parties.
Following the identification of the flaws, the EC halted the distribution of the affected ballots and immediately contracted Buck Press and Acts Commercials to reprint new, error-free ballots to uphold the integrity of the upcoming elections.
In response to claims that political parties had identified the defects, the EC clarified that its internal quality control mechanisms detected the errors.
However, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) maintains that its representatives first noticed the issue, prompting the EC’s corrective action.
This incident marks a critical step in the EC’s preparations for the 2024 general elections, underscoring the importance of transparency and accuracy to preserve public confidence in the electoral process.
