Chief Justice recommends 5 judges to be nominated to to the Supreme Court

Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo has formally requested President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to nominate five judges to the Supreme Court of Ghana.
The nominees are Justice Afia Serwaa Asare Botchwey, Justice Cyra Pamela Koranteng, Justice Eric Kyei Baffour, Justice Edward Amoako Asante, and Justice Angelina Mensah Homiah.
Notably, Justice Asare Botchwey is presiding over the high-profile ambulance trial involving Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.
In her letter dated May 30, Chief Justice Torkornoo detailed the qualifications and current roles of the nominees.
She highlighted Justice Edward Amoako Asante's significant tenure at the ECOWAS Court of Justice, which was extended due to geopolitical developments in the region.
Justice Asante is expected to conclude his extended tenure in 2026 and return to serve in Ghana’s judiciary.
