Car registration: DVLA goes fully digital
The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has successfully phased out its antiquated manual system for vehicle registration and related services, embracing a fully digital platform.
In a statement released on Wednesday, 27 December 2023, the DVLA emphasised its commitment to eradicating identity theft and false representation by migrating all vehicle registration services to an accessible online platform (online.dvla.gov.gh).
Highlighting the imperative nature of this transition, the DVLA cited the National Identity Register Regulations of 2012 (L) 2111, mandating the use of the National Identity Card for identity verification in transactions.
Consequently, the DVLA will exclusively accept the National Identification Card for identity verification in all its services.
The verification process can be conducted either in person at any DVLA office or remotely through the mobile app "DVLA verify," available for download on Google Play or Apple Store.
The DVLA is urging registered vehicle owners to visit any of its offices for the authentication of their vehicle records and completion of biometric identity verification.
This measure is deemed essential to enhance security, ensure traceability and accountability, and, most importantly, improve customer experience for heightened productivity.
