A4CG lauds Parliament on passage of anti-gay bill
Advocate for Christ Ghana (A4CG) has congratulated Parliament on the Passage of the Anti-LGBTQI Bill which was passed on Wednesday, 28th February, 2024.
A4CG lauded the “the Parliament of Ghana and its leadership for continuing to stand with the vast majority of Ghanaians in protecting national norms relating to human sexual rights and family values with the passage of this bill.”
“It has been a prolonged journey of three years, with the single largest submission of position papers, extremely healthy debate from both sides of the house, resulting in the final version of the bill, as passed into Law.” A4CG added.
In a press release, A4CG urged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to stand with Parliament and the people of Ghana to give assent to the bill.
“We urge His excellency, the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to stand with Parliament, stand with the people of Ghana and to stand by his Christian faith and give his assent to the bill as passed. We are aware of the open display of displeasure and threats from Western Nations and their assignees on our nation and various supporters of the bill, yet we are confident that the President will listen to Ghanaians and give assent,” the statement said.
It also encouraged civil organisations, churches, para church groups, chiefs and opinion leaders to educate the public especially the youth as they wait for the assent from the president.
