A/R: Construct suame interchange – NPP executives to Akufo-Addo
The Ashanti regional Executives of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) have appealed to President Akufo-Addo to commence the construction of the Suame interchange project.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo cut the sod for the construction of a four-tier interchange on October 2022.
The project if completed will be the first four-tier interchange in the region and the second in the country, after the Pokuase Interchange in the Greater Accra Region.
Eight months after the sod-cutting, work has not commenced on the project, generating criticism from the residents in the region.
Addressing a press conference today, Monday, 29 May 2023, in Kumasi, the regional Chairman of the party, Mr Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly called "Wontumi" said the people in the region are yearning for the commencement of the project.
As regional executives of the governing party, he said, they are re-echoing the calls of the people to prompt the attention of the President that the people in the region want the project to commence before 2024.
He noted that the project is the most priority of all in the region.
