V/R: North Dayi MP supports BECE graduates
The Member of Parliament for North Dayi Constituency in the Volta Region, Mrs. Jocelyn Tetteh Quarshi, has extended a helping hand to 800 students from her Constituency who recently completed the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and have been placed in Senior High Schools (SHSs).
The initiative, titled “Going To School With Joy,” aims to alleviate some of the financial burdens faced by parents in the current challenging economic climate.
Under this programme, students from Wusuta, Tsoxor, Botoku, Tsrukpe, and Aveme have received essential supplies to ease their transition into high school.
The support package includes chop boxes, exercise books, mathematical sets, food items like gari, sardines, and sugar, as well as toiletries such as buckets, sanitary pads, and toilet rolls.
In addition, each of the 800 students was given GH¢50 for transportation, and high-performing students were awarded mattresses.
Mrs. Jocelyn Tetteh explained her motivation, emphasizing that her support is not driven by a re-election bid but rather by her commitment to serving her community.
"I am not doing this because of my re-election; I do this every year for JHS graduates who have been assigned to various SHSs.
I also understand times are hard, and this is my small effort to support parents in this tough economy," she said.
One parent, whose son benefited from the initiative, expressed deep gratitude: “ Jocelyn has been doing this every year since she became an MP, and this year, my son received her support.
We thank her so much and pray she wins this election to continue supporting us.”
The MP also mentioned that there are plans to introduce skills training programmes for students interested in learning practical skills, furthering her commitment to educational and vocational support in North Dayi.
