NUGS march in protest of WAEC's results cancellation

The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), the umbrella body of students has officially notified the Greater Accra Regional Police Command of its plans to stage a demonstration against the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) over the recent withholding and cancellation of results for some students who sat for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The protest is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 9:00 AM at Obra Spot, Circle, Accra.
NUGS contends that the withheld and cancelled results have unfairly affected many students, potentially jeopardizing their academic futures.
The student body is demanding transparency and fairness from WAEC in handling examination results.
The demonstration is expected to draw students, parents, and concerned stakeholders to press for immediate redress on the issue.
Meanwhile, some parents and students have sued WAEC at the High Court and the examination governing body has also gone ahead to secure a stay of execution on the court's decision for WAEC to release the results.
