Labone SDA Church school celebrates 40 years of holistic Christian education
The Labone Seventh Day Adventist Church School in the Greater Accra Region, established in 1984 with just five children, has grown significantly over the past four decades.
Today, the school boasts numerous alumni who have become lawyers, engineers, building contractors, nurses, doctors, and other professionals contributing to the nation's development.
The theme for the special 40th-anniversary celebration is "40 Years of Imparting Holistic Christian Education Empowering the Next Generation through STEM and Innovation."
Pastor Dr. Solomon Okoe Trebi Hammond reminisced about the past, highlighting the importance of vocational and technical education during his youth, which emphasized practical learning over theoretical instruction.
He shared his pride in the Labone SDA School, which his children also attended.
Citing Vice President Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, he remarked, "When the fundamentals are weak, the dollar will expose you," underscoring the importance of a solid educational foundation.
Pastor Hammond noted that his sons, who attended the SDA school, are now successful engineers and professionals traveling the world.
He also emphasized the development of the school's science and music laboratories, which have equipped students with valuable skills.
Pastor Hammond advised students to take their education seriously and to learn to play musical instruments, such as the keyboard, which can be both enjoyable and profitable.
